AUDIO Review SAKKARAKATTI-::

People the audio review of Sakkarakatti seems to be a kinda late from my side as the songs are already familiar and topping the charts. But before that I would like to mention the reason for publishing it late, its simply because Rahman's compositions have a lot of knowledge behind it and it takes a bit of time to grow on the listener. Another important reason behind this, is that his music contains too many background layers, new scale transitions and new experimentations that aren't familiar. So, it takes time for us to understand. Thats the reason why people call his compositions "A Slow poison" (i.e)

( it starts of worse and when days go by, it grows on u, creeps and stays forever)..

Here I start.. This album is gonna create history no doubts.. Each track is good in its own way and the tracks in the album contains variety of genres..

1. Eley (Singers Krish, Naresh Iyer)--

This composition is very new to Indian music. Here Rahman introduces the genres Irish jazz and the blues.. The most intelligent aspect of this track is its orchestration, it seems to be accompanied with acoustic guitar that brings a country feel so that it could be listened even by a lay man. This is basically for commercial aspects, as pure Jazz & blues requires a different taste and could be listened only by purists. The usages of "Brass", Violin & Organs brings the Irish-jazz feel and the scale transition gives u the blues feel.. The genre "Blues" is identified by its different method of strumming and scale transitions. This so called blue transition can be found in the second stanza when the "Eley" part seems to be repeated. The lyrics seems to be very suitable for the tune, it purely shows the writer's imagination. This song is one among the youth anthems.
My Rating (9.7/10.0)

2. Taxi Taxi (Benny, Blaze and Vion)--

The song is a pure youth anthem on cards.. The song is already a chartbuster. It is said to be the song of the season and according to sources the video of the song has recently been changed. The track has an International feel. The song seems to be of the Hip Hop genre. They also call it "Rompe". The background pads and bass seems to be the best part of the song..

The song has French lyrics..

"
il faut que je me depeche parce qu'on m'attend au chennai
il faut que j'aille prendre le taxi à Paris" which means that "it is necessary that I myself depeche because one awaits me to the chennai, I must, will take the taxi to Paris"

Another attractive part of the song is its lyrics on friendship..

My Rating (9.7/10.0)

3. Marudhaani (Madhushree and Rahman)--

This song is gonna be the song of the year. The melody ,the tune and freshness in it can beat any track. Nothing special about the loop as it is a very simple trance loop but the tracks tune obliterates its orchestration. "Oh My God" the stupendous feel seems to be straight away from Rahman's corridor. The first piano interlude starting of with a minor transition just flows in your mind straight away and the middle paragraph's highlight seems to be our Rahman's humming, it comes in and fades away within a phew secs. The song's lyrics seems to be very colorful which portrays the tradition of a gurl and her love.
My Rating (9.8/10.0)

4. Naan Eppodhu (Reena Bharadhwaj)--

This song would capture anybody in the very first listen. The tune floats anybody with its feel. This song is a remake of a super hit song "Yeh Ristha" from the hindi movie "Meenakshi". The best part is that the remade lyrics suits well in tamil. The gorgeous voice of Reena Bharadhwaj seems to be a plus. I feel this song seems to be different in tamil. The orchestration has different sounds and mandolin is the instrument used in the first interlude.
My Rating (9.7/10.0)

5. Chinnamma (Benny Dayal, Chinmayi)--

This song seems to be a pure south Indian composition. It makes anybody to dance. Probably a next "Chayya Chayya" on the making. The voice of Benny seems to be better than that of Sukhwinder's and Chinmayi, I doubt whether it was her voice because it was totally different from "I miss you da" (another track from this album) this shows her versatility. This song would be a mass hit. The lyrics, tune and change in the rhythm pattern seems to be even more better in tamil.
My Rating (9.6/10.0)

6. I Miss You Da (Chinmayi)--

This song tune is of 50's type but the song's beat and orchestration seems to be a trance and a mixture of the genre arabic in the interludes. This song brings an erotic feel. This song is like a dream and nobody could imagine an orchestration this way. Tamil ppl would know more regarding these sorta compositions because these kinda songs where given by MS.Viswanathan in the past 1950's. Tracks like "Maalai Pozhundhin Mayakam" is considered to be a super hit in the 50's which is too of the same kinda genre. I feel he is trying out a new style, bringing out old 50's music touch using today's technology. His recent tracks like"Mayail Iragae","thigu thigu", "Munbae Va", "Inisaai", "Thazhuvadhu","Maja Maja" will all come under this category. The track "thottal poo malarum" new was too a track of M.S.Viswanathan re-tuned version of Rahman..

I feel these tracks are for late generation who would generally prefer these kinda songs because the old type music feel is still considered to be evergreen. And since it has been softwares dominating the period of time, there's nothing wrong in Rahman trying out something new to look back.

I feel this could be a trend change. Soon there would be a demand for these kinda songs. Whenever I listen to this I find something new. It grows on one slowly.
My Rating (9.5/10.0)

Normally I would not get completely satisfied with an Arr album but this album seems to be something above expectations.

So, lets hope the best & pray for the Director to equalize the
expectations & standards being creative in his videos because videos generally play an important role to make the songs familiar among ppl.
